Slurry Tote Conversion Finite Element Analysis - Cameco Corporation

March’s engineers and technical specialists performed a detailed structural assessment of Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) slurry totes. A finite element model was developed to determine the suitability of FRP materials to replace totes fabricated using traditional materials such as aluminum and steel. March specified the orthotropic material properties required for the accurate modeling of the totes. These properties were determined experimentally and used in the FEA model. The results of the analysis were compiled in a technical report with several recommendations to be implemented by the owner and the fabricator.
